Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information VALDICT collects, how we use it, when service providers process it, and the choices available to you.
1. Who we are
VALDICT (“VALDICT,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides a consumer price-and-value analysis service that helps users evaluate prices, quotes, bills, subscriptions, products, services, travel purchases, and other everyday spending decisions. VALDICT is currently operated from Nevada, United States.
Questions and privacy requests may be sent to support@valdict.com. Signed-in users may also permanently delete their account and associated VALDICT data from the account panel in the app.
2. Information we collect
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Account information | Email address, display name, user ID, authentication/session information, account plan, and account status. |
| Deal-check content | Descriptions, links, quotes, prices, optional location, category selections, screenshots or photos you choose to submit, and related input. |
| Analysis and history | Deal scores, verdicts, fair-price ranges, savings estimates, recommendations, sources, confidence information, timestamps, and saved check history. |
| Subscription information | Plan, Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, subscription status, renewal/cancellation information, and related billing metadata. VALDICT does not store full payment-card numbers. |
| Usage and technical information | Usage counts, category usage, request timestamps, browser/device information, IP address, and hosting/security logs that may be processed automatically by our infrastructure providers. |
| Communications | Messages you send to VALDICT support and transactional email information associated with account confirmation, password reset, and billing communications. |
3. How we collect information
We collect information directly from you when you create an account, submit a deal check, upload an image, enter a price or location, subscribe to VALDICT+, contact support, or otherwise use the service.
Some technical information is collected automatically through browser storage, authentication technology, hosting infrastructure, security logs, and service-provider systems. VALDICT currently uses browser local storage for certain application state and local/demo history. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or advertising pixels in the current beta.
4. How we use information
- Provide, operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve VALDICT.
- Authenticate users and maintain account sessions.
- Analyze submitted prices, quotes, descriptions, links, and images and return a VALDICT result.
- Save signed-in users’ check history and calculate usage limits or subscription entitlements.
- Process subscriptions, cancellations, and billing-related events.
- Send account confirmation, password-reset, service, and support communications.
- Prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our policies.
- Comply with applicable law and enforce our agreements.
5. Artificial intelligence processing
VALDICT sends relevant deal-check content to OpenAI through the OpenAI API to generate analysis. Depending on what you submit, this may include text, price, optional location, and an uploaded image. VALDICT’s current API request uses store:false, meaning VALDICT does not ask the OpenAI Responses API to store the response as a saved response object.
OpenAI states that API inputs and outputs may be retained for up to 30 days for service operation, abuse monitoring, security, or legal reasons unless a qualifying Zero Data Retention arrangement applies. OpenAI also states that API Platform data is not used to train its models by default unless the customer explicitly opts in.
VALDICT may also use OpenAI web-search capabilities when current public information materially improves a price or value analysis.
6. Uploaded images
When you upload a screenshot or photo for analysis, the image is compressed in your browser and transmitted for analysis. VALDICT does not currently save the uploaded image itself to the VALDICT database as part of your check history. The image may nevertheless be processed transiently by our infrastructure and AI service provider as necessary to complete the request.
Do not upload sensitive documents that are not necessary for a price check. In particular, do not upload health information during the beta.
7. Consumer health information
VALDICT beta does not support medical or consumer health information and is not designed to provide medical-price analysis. We use notices and automated safeguards intended to block obvious health-related text before analysis. Automated safeguards are not infallible, particularly when information appears inside an image.
Do not submit medical records, medical bills, diagnoses, prescriptions, health-insurance information, laboratory results, treatment information, or other information relating to a person’s health. If we become aware that prohibited health information was submitted, we may restrict processing and take reasonable steps to delete it where practicable and legally permitted.
8. Service providers and disclosures
VALDICT uses third-party service providers to operate the service. These providers may process information on our behalf or receive information necessary to perform their services.
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Authentication, account information, database storage, usage records, and saved check history. |
| OpenAI | AI-powered deal analysis and related web-search processing. |
| Stripe | Subscriptions, payment processing, billing portal, fraud prevention, and transaction-related services. |
| Vercel | Application hosting, delivery, serverless functions, technical logs, and security infrastructure. |
| Resend | Transactional authentication and service email delivery. |
| Google Workspace | VALDICT support email and related business communications. |
We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect users or VALDICT, investigate fraud or security issues, enforce agreements, or complete a merger, financing, acquisition, sale, or similar business transaction subject to appropriate protections.
9. We do not sell personal information
VALDICT does not currently sell personal information. We also do not currently share personal information with third-party advertising networks for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising based on activity across unrelated websites or apps.
Service providers may collect technical information needed to provide hosting, authentication, payments, security, analytics inherent to service operation, or other contracted services. They are not authorized by VALDICT to use VALDICT user information for unrelated behavioral advertising.
10. Payment information
Stripe processes payment-card and payment-method information directly. VALDICT does not receive or store your full card number. VALDICT receives limited billing and subscription metadata needed to identify your plan, determine entitlement to VALDICT+, manage cancellation status, and reconcile subscription events.
11. Data retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing the service, maintaining account history, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, preventing abuse, meeting legal obligations, and maintaining appropriate business records.
- Account information and saved check history may remain while your account is active. If you use the in-app Delete Account & Data control, VALDICT deletes your authentication account and associated VALDICT database records, including your profile and related saved account data, subject to provider, backup, security, fraud-prevention, and legal-retention requirements.
- Uploaded images are not currently stored in the VALDICT database after the analysis request, although service providers may retain request data according to their own applicable retention rules.
- OpenAI may retain API inputs and outputs for up to 30 days unless a different qualifying retention arrangement applies.
- Stripe and other providers may retain transaction, fraud-prevention, tax, or legal records as required by law or their contractual obligations.
- Support communications may be retained as reasonably necessary to resolve requests, maintain business records, and protect the service.
12. Your privacy choices and requests
Depending on where you live, applicable law may give you rights to access, correct, delete, obtain a copy of, or restrict certain uses of personal information. You may also have a right to direct us not to sell covered information.
VALDICT does not currently sell covered information. To submit a privacy request, correction request, no-sale request, or other data request, email support@valdict.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
In-app account deletion Signed-in users may permanently delete their VALDICT account and associated VALDICT data from the account panel by selecting Delete Account & Data and completing the confirmation steps. This action cannot be undone. If the account has an active VALDICT+ subscription or trial, VALDICT attempts to cancel it immediately before deleting the account; if cancellation cannot be completed, account deletion will not proceed. Account deletion ends access to the deleted account and may end remaining paid or trial access immediately. Certain records retained by Stripe or other service providers for transaction, fraud-prevention, security, tax, backup, or legal purposes may remain according to their applicable retention requirements.
13. Nevada privacy notice
For Nevada consumers, this policy identifies the categories of covered information we collect and the categories of service providers with whom that information may be shared. You may contact us at support@valdict.com to review or request changes to covered information associated with your account, or to submit a verified request concerning sale of covered information.
VALDICT does not currently sell covered information. We do not currently permit third-party advertising networks to collect covered information through VALDICT for behavioral advertising across unrelated websites or online services.
14. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted network connections, authenticated access, database access controls, and service-provider security measures. No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and we cannot promise that unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration will never occur.
15. Children
VALDICT is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to VALDICT, contact us at support@valdict.com.
16. International processing
VALDICT and its service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. Those locations may have privacy laws that differ from the laws where you live.
17. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as VALDICT changes. If we make a material change, we will update the “Last updated” date and may provide additional notice in the app, by email, or through another reasonable method when appropriate.
